Safari Overview
Madu Ganga is one of Sri Lanka’s most treasured wetlands, a Ramsar listed mangrove ecosystem near Balapitiya. This diverse river environment supports saltwater crocodiles, monkeys, and hundreds of native plant and bird species. The river widens into a network of mangrove islets and small islands, many of which feature ancient temples and traditional river villages.
The Classic River Safari is an extended 1.5 to 2 hour journey through this remarkable ecosystem. Our experienced guides navigate through mangrove tunnels to visit Five Cent Island, Sacred Temple Island, and Cinnamon Island. This immersive tour combines wildlife encounters with cultural experiences.
